Making a game in 48h
Last weekend we participated in the Global Game Jam and created this cute little game.
The jam started on Friday at 5pm. The theme was "Duality" and we really struggled to find a good game idea. We didn't find a concept we liked that day, so we decided to postpone the decision until the next day. And honestly on saturday we almost gave up because we couldn't really think of a fun concept.
So we decided to scrap the theme and just go with the ideas that we had along the way.
And then it finally clicked and we came up with the idea for Pawlo Purrcasso! And only later realized that painting with two paws at once actually fits the theme pretty well.
We really didn't want to burn ourselves out - we already crunched enough in our lifetime.
We made sure that we would not work too long and to still have some time to relax in the evening. No nightshifts for us.
I think all in all we worked about 4h on friday and 8h on saturday and sunday each. And then a couple of hours for bugfixing and trailers the days after the jam.
Right in the beginning we tried to set the scope for our project so we wouldn't need to rush and could have a polished first version for the final presentation on sunday.
We're super happy with how this small project turned out and we hope you enjoy the game <3
